Chronic pain is a complex problem. Pain may continue long after an injury or disease has been treated. The pain becomes a diagnosis. Pain is REAL, even when it is not clear where it is coming from.
Being in pain can cause social depression, anger, anxiety and other extreme emotions. In addition pain may also cause social withdrawal and chemical dependence. You are not alone if you experience any or all of these symptoms. Thousands of people live with chronicc pain every day. We all have tolerated pain in the past. You can learn ways and skills to accept and manage your pain.
The Chronic Pain Self-Help Group is a nonprofit, free self-help group that provides help, hope, and alternative ideas that work, or don’t work, with each other. We talk freely and confidentially about our pain and how it affects our daily lives. We share information, try new techniques, share experiences and different treatment options. Most of all, we support each other.
If you suffer from chronic pain, we invite you to visit our self-help group on the second Wednesday of each month at 1:30 PM in the Central Library on Ernest St. in Lake Charles, LA. (It is almost behind Kmart)
