Tara Barnes is a Board Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurse Credentialing Center. Honor societies have included Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society and Phi Kappa Phi. She earned both her Bachelor of Science and Masters of Nursing in Nursing from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA. She is also a member of Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Prior to joining Center for Neurosurgical and Spinal Disorder in 2008, Tara worked as a registered nurse in cardiology as a physician’s extender for 7 years in the hospital setting and in the intensive care unit for 3 years. Prior to returning to her hometown of Sulphur, La., Tara has had the opportunity to work at various prestigious institutions including but not limited to UCLA in Los Angeles, CA and St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston, TX. Tara was voted Best Preceptor of the Year by Houston Baptist University while working at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital.
In Tara’s spare time, she enjoys reading, travel, and spending time with her family.
